‘Takaragawa Onsen Osenkaku’ in Gunma boasts four huge open-air baths with megalith. The size amounts to 470 tatami size (c.850 square meters) in total and you can enjoy autumn leaves from there in the fall.

All the open-air baths are located along Takaragawa river and you can enjoy autumn leaves of Ivy, Beech, and Oak from any bath. Especially, the big tree over ‘Maka’ bath – the most famous one out of these four baths – is dyed crimson early November.


‘Maka’ bath with megalith in the fall

Three out of four huge open-air baths are unisex hot springs. You’ve got to wear bathing suit which the inn prepares since April 2019.

The other open-air bath ‘Maya’ is women only. It is recommended to visit weekday mornings because the bath may be crowded on weekends.

If you want to stay the inn at high season from late October to early November, you should make reservation early. The inn can be fully booked before 1 month.
