You will arrive at ‘Daisetsu-Kogen Onsen’ after passing through ‘Souunkyo Onsen’ area and climbing the ‘Yanbe-tap’ path.
In 2020, the mountain cottage is open from June 10 to October 10, for just 123 days. The area the inn is located is sometimes called as “Ura-Daisetsu” because it is directly behind Mt. Asahidake. As the early autumn leaves of Hokkaido are in full bloom, the footsteps of winter are already approaching. In winter, the area is covered with snow with a height of nearly 7 meters, and the inn is closed for a long time.
With simple acid spring quality and milky color, the onsen is gentle touch to your skin. You have both open-air bath and in-house bath. Especially, autumn is exceptional because you can overlook the autumn colors of the mountains from the open-air bath.
You can enjoy in-house bath as well. The bath is clean and you can thoroughly enjoy the milky colored onsen.
Hiking around the swamp, which takes about 4 hours, is highly recommended in late September of autumn leaves season.
After getting tired from hiking, you can warm yourself in the onsen. Then, you can relax in the guest room where you can see picturesque beauty scenery outside the window.
Of course, you can also enjoy dinner with wild vegetables, river fish, and hot pots.
Car access is convenient, but The path to the inn is a gravel road and narrow. If you’re not good at driving, you should take free transfer. The inn offers the transfer to the guests. Please check as the time is specified and a reservation is required.
Why don’t you experience the rapidly changing seasons at ‘Daisetsu-Kogen Onsen’ which opens only 123 days a year in Hokkaido.
